Given that a square plus b square equals 25 and a × B equals 12, find the square of (1) a + B and (2) a-b

∵a²+b²=25 ab=12
a²+2ab+b²=25+24
(a+b)²=49
∴a+b=±7
a²-2ab+b²=25-24=1
(a-b)²=1
a-b=±1
∴a²-b²=(a+b)(a-b)=±7×(±1)=±7
