Given that the square of (a + b) is 16 and the square of (a-b) is 4, find the sum of the squares of a and B

Given that the square of (a + b) is 16 and the square of (a-b) is 4, find the sum of the squares of a and B

(a+b)²-(a-b)²=4ab=16-4=12
∴ab=3
(a+b)²=a²+b²+2ab=16
a²+b²=16-6=10
