The changing period of lunar phase

The changing period of lunar phase

As the moon moves a long distance from west to East in the starry sky every day, its shape is constantly changing. This is the phase change of the moon, which is called the phase change of the moon. "People have joys and sorrows, and the moon has Yin, Qing and wanes". The wanes here refer to the "phase change of the moon": the different images of the part of the moon illuminated by sunlight seen on the earth
 because the moon itself does not emit light, under the sunlight, the half sphere facing the sun is the bright area, and the other half sphere is the dark area. With the change of the moon's position relative to the earth and the sun, the side illuminated by the sun is sometimes facing the earth, sometimes facing away from the earth; sometimes the part of the moon facing the earth is larger, sometimes smaller, so different phases of the moon appear
 whenever the moon moves between the sun and the earth, and the hemisphere illuminated by the sun faces away from the earth, people can't see the moon on the earth. This day is called "new moon", also known as "new moon", which is the first day of the lunar calendar
After the new moon, the moon moves in the direction of the earth's rotation, and the bright area gradually turns to the earth. On the earth, you can see a thin silver hook like moon, which appears in the western sky, bowing toward the sunset. This month is called "moth eyebrow moon", which is the third and fourth day of the lunar calendar
Then, the moon in the sky away from the sun day by day, to the seventh and eighth day of the lunar calendar, half a bright area facing the earth, people can see half the moon (convex to the West), this month is called the "first quarter moon"
When the moon moves to the opposite direction of the earth, that is, the 15th, 16th and 17th lunar calendar, all the bright areas of the moon face the earth, we can see a full moon, which is called "full moon", also known as "Wang"
After the full moon, the west side of the bright area begins to be in deficit. On the 22nd and 23rd of the lunar calendar, half of the moon can be seen (convex to the East). This phase of the month is called the "last quarter moon". During this period, the moon gradually moves closer to the sun, and it can only rise from the East in the middle of the night
Four or five days later, the moon turns into a moth - eyebrow - shaped bud, bowing toward the rising sun. This month is called the "waning moon"
When the moon moves between the sun and earth again, the moon returns to the new moon
The phase of the moon changes in this way. If we use the cycle of the phase change (that is, the whole process of a phase change) to calculate, from the new moon to the next new moon, or from the full moon to the next full moon, is a "new moon", the time interval is about 29.53 days. The length of a month in the Chinese lunar calendar is determined according to the "new moon"
