In the central part of the basin is Taklimakan Desert. The rivers in the surrounding mountainous areas decrease in gradient, disperse in water flow, deposit sand and mud, and form fan-shaped plain. There are more than 100 oases, such as Shule, Shache, Aksu, Hetian and Kuqa. The oasis has developed irrigation agriculture, and is rich in wheat, corn, rice and cotton
