The perimeter of a rectangle is 24cm. If the length of the rectangle is reduced by 2cm and the width is increased by 3cm, it will become a square. Find the area of the original rectangle? Use x solution

The perimeter of a rectangle is 24cm. If the length of the rectangle is reduced by 2cm and the width is increased by 3cm, it will become a square. Find the area of the original rectangle? Use x solution

If the original length is x cm, the width is 24 △ 2-x = 12-x cm
So X-2 = 12-x + 3
2X=15+2=17
X=8.5
Width = 12-8.5 = 3.5cm
So area = 8.5 × 3.5 = 29.75 square centimeter
